Marvin Funk, age 93 of Escondido California passed away on Thursday November 24, 2016. He was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on August 2, 1923. Marvin joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Dewey. He is a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack in Hawaii. After the war, he worked at a retail store and drove a fire truck to support himself. He attended and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from San Bernardino Valley College. He married Doris Larimore of San Bernardino Ca. on November 14, 1948.

Marvin Funk, age 93 of Escondido California passed away on Thursday November 24, 2016. He was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on August 2, 1923. Marvin joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Dewey. He is a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack in Hawaii. After the war, he worked at a retail store and drove a fire truck to support himself. Marvin started working in the banking industry in 1948. His career of 37 years began with entry level positions and finished his career as a Vice President of Security Pacific Bank with retirement in 1985.

He was passionate about civic pride and took an active interest in Clubs and Professional Organizations. He was the Past President of the Chamber of Commerce in Perris, CA, Past President of Lions Club in Perris, Perris Little League Past President, Vice President of Arrowhead's United Way in San Bernardino and Past President of the Pearl Harbor Survivor's Club of Hemet.

Other affiliations and interests included: Member of Riverside County Department of Development and Economic Council, Member of the Board of Directors of Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce.: Member of Rancho California's Lion's Club, Rialto's Kiwanis Club, Temecula's Rotary Club, VFW, American Legion, , American Cancer Society, American Bankers Association of Temecula, 4H Club of Murrieta., Finance and Director for Local Little League and Perris Girl Scouts.
He enjoyed playing golf and often played in tournaments sponsored by civic groups.

He is survived by Jana Funk Markley, Daughter, Jack Markley, Son-in-law, Granddaughters, Meggan and Shanan Markley and Great granddaughter Peyton Richardson.

He was preceeded in death by brother Jearold Funk and sister Betty Temby.
Funeral arrangements were held at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, San Bernardino, California on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
